PID Data Sources
DOE OSTI works to create connections to research components throughout the research lifecycle, linking research outputs to funding to people to organizations. While OSTI receives some of this descriptive information when research outputs are submitted, OSTI also collects connections, relationships, and related identifiers from external data sources.
External PID Data Sources
-
Scholix - A framework for scholarly link exchange that provides relationships between scholarly literature, data,
and other research outputs provided by publishers, data centers, and global service providers. OSTI pulls in related identifiers and relationships associated with the DOIs included in
OSTI.GOV records and includes these relationships and connections to enhance the OSTI.GOV record.
- Scholix API URL: https://api.scholexplorer.openaire.eu/v2/Links?sourcePid={0}&sourcePidType=DOI where {0} is the DOI
-
Crossref -
A digital Object Identifier (DOI) registration agency of the DOI Foundation. OSTI utilizes Crossref API
services to populate metadata information from publishers and to register DOIs for specific product types
ingested by E-Link (Technical Reports and UNL Conference Posters and Proceedings).
- Crossref API URL: http://doi.crossref.org/servlet/query?usr={username}&pwd={password}&format=UNIXREF&qdata={0} where {0} is the DOI
-
US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) -
USPTO provides issued patent and patent application records. OSTI pulls in references associated with the DOE-funded
patent records included in OSTI.GOV
to enhance the OSTI.GOV record.
- PatentsView API URL: https://api.patentsview.org/patents/query
- Web of Science (WoS) - WoS customers have access to references and citations for the records in WoS. As a WoS customer, OSTI provides reference and citation relationships associated with DOE-funded journal article records in OSTI.GOV to members of the DOE community who fall under the OSTI WoS agreement.
