As a service to utilities, contractors, and manufacturers serving the gas distribution market, Pipe Line Industry invited five East Coast industry leaders to discuss what their companies are doing to meet today's challenges. The participants were: Daniel L. Drake, manager, Central Gas Distribution Department, Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., Baltimore, Md.; James E. Wagner, assistant vice president, distribution-engineering, Boston Gas Co., Boston, Mass.; Robert B. Catell, assistant vice president, Brooklyn Union Gas Co., Brooklyn, N.Y.; K.H. Fellows, general superintendent-transmission and distribution, Washington Gas Light Co., Washington, D. C.; R.M. White, general manager-gas transmission and distribution, Public Service Electric and Gas Co., Newark, N.J.; and Carrington Mason, former Houston Natural Gas Corp. senior vice president, now PLI gas distribution consulting editor. Their thoughts on new technology now in use, or being considered, to reduce costs and improve efficiency in supervisory control, computerization, and communications are presented.
