Journal Article · · Pipe Line Ind.; (United States)
OSTI ID:7180562

Questions are answered by representatives from five gas utilities on technology now in use or being considered to upgrade maintenance operations, comply with the Office of Pipeline Safety Operations/OSHA regulations, and at the same time reduce costs. It was concluded from the discussion that maintenance and compliance with Federal/state safety regulations are accounting for an increasing share of gas utility budgets, thus demanding that equipment and materials perform efficiently at lower cost. The five representatives were from Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.; Boston Gas Co.; Washington Gas Light Co.; Public Service Electric and Gas Co., Newark, N.J.; and Brooklyn Union Gas Co. (MCW)
