Quantification of ischemic and infarcted myocardium. Annual scientific report, 30 Jun 1975--15 Apr 1976

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7306869
By means of the positron emitting myocardial labels: (68)Ga microspheres, (13)NH3, (130)Cs, (81)Rb and (82)Sr and (13)N-L-asparagine, myocardial uptake studies using reconstruction tomography are in progress. The agents are produced locally with a CS-15 cyclotron. Imaging is carried out with the double camera positron coincidence system of Muehllehner. Data are collected for offline processing on 9-track tape, and a variety of algorithms are being investigated for quantitative reconstruction of the myocardial radionuclide distributions. Such measurements will be compared to regional myocardial perfusion determinations in animals made with microspheres, and preliminary clinical trials in patients with ischemic heart disease are planned.
