Computations of the splitting stalls with catalyst 6434, hydrogenation works Scholven

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7220545
The splitting stall was equipped with three converters, two heat exchangers, one gas-heated preheater, and one gas cooler. The dimensions of each of these pieces of equipment were given. There was 1,700 m/sup 3/ gas/ton of feed used. Part I included computations of the amount of cold gas in the converter (10,800 m/sup 3//hr at 15/sup 0/, 1 atm), computations of the k-value for the heat exchanger (K= 1.46 k cal/m/sup 2//hr//sup 0/C), and computations for the preheater. Part II included calculations for the coolers, the amount of heat set free in the converter (2,850,000 k cal/hr), heat exchanger calculations (K = 155 k ca/m/sup 2//hr//sup 0/C), and water cooler calculations (including velocity pressure drops, heat, and amount of water). Part III included computations involving piping. The final statement gave the piping selected as S2 steel with a diameter of 45 mm. Six sheets of data, charts, graphs, and figures were given. Chart 1 involved the heat exchanger of the Scholven splitting stall with catalyst 6434 and 23.7 ton/hr of middle oil. Chart 2 concerned the preheater of the splitting stall in Scholven with catalyst 6434 and 23.7 ton/hr of middle oil. Chart 3 involved the water cooler for the same conditions as the preheater and chart 4 gave a heat balance of this stall. Chart 5 gave the relationship between density and the kinematic viscosity of water and the temperature. Chart 6 gave the relationship between the resistance expressed in sections of tubes and the Reynold's number.
