Solubility of selenium in lead selenide

Journal Article · · Inorg. Mater. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:7006816
The authors use a direct physicochemical method to determine the solubility of Se in PbSe in a temperature range 1070-1270 K and at vapor pressures of Se/sub 2/ varying from 80 to 2.5.10/sup 4/ Pa. The solubility is proportional to the vapor pressure of Se/sub 2/ raised to the power 1/4 and increases with increasing temperature. The solubility is ca 1.5 times higher than the value found by an indirect method. The obtained result confirms the fundamental nature of the model of intrinsic point defects in PbSe proposed previously.
