Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), the sole electric utility in Korea, has nine nuclear units in operation and five units under construction. At KEPCO, the maintenance engineering departments are responsible for performing the following major activities: (1) diagnostics of system and equipment performance; (2) development and revision of related procedures; (3) review of plant modifications; (4) monitoring and control of maintenance; and (5) instrumentation and control (I C) maintenance activities. Mechanical and electrical maintenance activities are entrusted to the Korea Electric Power Operation Service Company (KEPOS), which is one of our subsidiary companies. To improve the training effectiveness of operation, maintenance, and technical support personnel, KEPCO recently constructed a centralized nuclear training center (KNTC), which includes the Integrated Maintenance Training Shop (IMTS) equipped with 256 types of training aids for each functional area.
