A study is made of the inclusive process e/sup +/e/sup -/..-->..VX with allowance for the polarization states of the vector meson. A tensor describing the vertex for the transition ..gamma..*..-->..VX, containing in general eight structure functions, is constructed. The helicity representation is used to calculate the elements of the density matrix for the produced vector meson, which are expressed in terms of these structure functions and the polarization vectors of the annihilating particles. It is shown that only six structure functions can be determined by studying the angular distribution of the products of the decay of the vector meson into pseudoscalar particles (rho..-->..2..pi.., ..omega.. ..-->..3..pi.., phi..-->..2K), since the polarization vector of the vecton does not contribute to these decays. A determination is also made of the angular distribution of the longitudinally polarized leptons in the decay V..-->..1/sup +/1/sup -/ (psi, psi'..-->..1/sup +/1/sup -/), from which it follows that all the structure functions can be distinguished in this case. To do this, it is necessary that the polarization vectors of the annihilating electron or positron have a longitudinal component and that the longitudinal polarization of at least one of the decay leptons is measured.
