Increases in both demand and prices for natural gas liquids have helped Sun Gas' Jameson plant in Coke County, Texas, outlive rumors that it would die quietly long before the 1980s. On the contrary, the 32-yr old plant has grown to 5 times its original capacity and is undergoing another expansion to be completed later this year. The Jameson plant takes in 50 mmcfd of gas and produces 350,000 gpd of natural gas. The latest expansion (in the design stage in Dec. 1981) will allow the processing of 70 mmcfd into natural gasoline, butane, propane, and an ethane mix. The project involves installation of a separate expander facility and upgrading part of the existing facility to replace obsolete equipment. Total cost of the program is estimated to be $5.5 million. The history of the plant and its development are discussed.
