A $76,700 conservation project that includes relamping and delamping, plugging holes in the building, installing programmable timers on building systems, and correcting wasteful practices in a 3-y-old, 20-story Houston office building will pay for itself in one year. Relamping produced over a third of the energy savings and the programmable timers a fourth. Utility-bill comparisons show a 19.2% drop in electricity use despite a 15% increase in building occupancy.
