This patent describes a method for inhibiting silica dissolution in the vicinity of a well penetrating a hydrocarbon-containing formation. It comprises: adding an amount of a chemical compound to a wet steam which forms an alkaline component in the vapor phase of the wet stream effective to inhibit corrosion int he vicinity of the vapor phase condensate; separating in a separation vessel the wet steam into a liquid phase and the vapor phase; removing an amount of the liquid phase from the separation vessel effective to reduce silica dissolution in the vicinity of the liquid phase; and injecting the wet steam into the formation.
