Pacific Lighting Corp. and Pacific Gas and Electric Co. are optimistic about getting final approval for the proposed 1.3 billion cu ft/day LNG terminal at Point Conception, the approval of which was reaffirmed by the California Public Utilities Commission, which had earlier approved the site Indonesian officials recently warned that they would terminate the contract with the two firms unless the project proceeded more rapidly. According to J. R. Rensch (Pacific Lighting Corp.), Oct. 1979 is a ''realistic'' date for final approval of the project; with such approval, the first LNG shipment to the U.S. will be in 1983. Of the nine tankers that will be used to deliver the LNG to the U.S. terminal, three are ready and the remainder are yet to be built. Two additional tankers will be used to deliver 400 million cu ft/day of Alaskan natural gas to the terminal beginning in 1984.
