The $43 million water reclamation plant 20 mi from Chicago provides tertiary treatment for a flow of 50 mgd and primary treatment for up to 125 mgd of mixed stormwater and sewage. The plant uses a two-stage activated sludge process followed by filtration, which incorporates a novel nitrification-denitrification process. (1 diagram, 2 photos)
