A method of foam inhibition uses branched polyalkylene polyamines and their derivatives as foam inhibitors. These products have a very broad spectrum of uses. The products relate to branched polyamines and to branched polyamine derivatives containing various groups. The uses include the following: (1) demulsification agents; (2) corrosion inhibitors; (3) acidizing additives; (4) fracturing fluid additives; (5) water-treating additives in waterflooding; (6) agents in paraffin solvents; (7) filter-cake removal agents; (8) scale-preventative agents; and (9) bactericides and fungicides.
