Sand consolidation method

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6384873
This is a method of consolidating a subsurface formation by injecting into the formation thermosetting plastics or resins which set and bind the sand particles of the formation together. An improvement over similar methods is a step in the procedure that promotes bonding between the sand and the organic resin. Prior to injecting the resin solution into the sand, an aqueous solution containing a chemical agent which functions to strengthen the bond between the sand and resin is introduced into the formation. Several chemical agents that can be used for this purpose are listed. The preferred agent is 2, aminoethyl-aminopropyl-trimethoxy silane. (15 claims)
