Sand consolidation method

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6889279
In a sand consolidation treatment, three basic steps are performed: (1) introduction of a formation conditioner into the well formation which is to be consolidated; (2) introducing a phenolic resin or plastic into the formation; and (3) introducing an overflush or afterflush solution into the formation. The formation cleaner is preferably diesel oil with about 0.5 to about 3.0% of an oil-soluble surfactant or surface-active agent mixed with it. The plastic or resin preferably contains from about .05% to about 5.0% of silane. The afterflush or overflush solution preferably is a mixture of oil and about 1-3% cresol.
