Sand consolidation with resin-forming liquids

In a method of consolidating incompetent formations by injecting a resin solution into the formation, a chemical agent is incorporated into the resin to obtain chemical bonding between the sand particles and the resin. The chemical agents that can be used are listed. The preferred agent is 2-aminoethyl-aminopropyl-trimethoxy silane. It is preferred to incorporate the chemical agent within the resin solution; however, it can also be introduced into the formation as a preflush solution prior to the resin treatment. (5 claims)
