John McAtee, Jr., General Counsel for the Synthetic Fuels Corporation (SFC), was the principal witness at a February 19, 1981 hearing to review whether the SFC is following Congressional intent. Evidence from preliminary monitoring indicates that the SFC has already deviated in the areas of salaries and fringe benefits, compliance with public meeting requirements, responses to the Ethics in Government Act, the handling of patent rights and small business involvement, and the financial support of synfuel commercialization. Mr. McAtee and other representative of SFC responded to these concerns in their statements and with other materials submitted for the record. (DCK)
