The hearings began on March 12, 1979 on uranium enrichment and assessment, hydroelectric, commercialization, and geothermal loan guarantee programs with George S. McIsaac, Assistant Secretary for Resource Applications, as the main witness. On March 13, 1979, a hearing on solar heating and cooling, agricultural and industrial process heat, and related programs was conducted with the main witness being Omi Walden, Assistance Secretary for Conservation and Solar Applications. Also on March 13, 1979, the hearing on international programs, featured as main witness Harry E. Bergold, Jr., Assistant Secretary International Affairs. At the March 14, 1979 hearing on environmental programs, the main witness was Mrs. Ruth C. Clusen, Assistance Secretary for Environment. On March 15, 1979, a hearing on basic energy sciences, general science, and research programs was conducted with John M. Deutch, Director, Office of Energy Research, DOE, as the main witness. (MCW)
