Advantages of wood gasification

Book ·
OSTI ID:6256213
The Georgia Forestry Commission entered into a contrast with Applied Engineering Company in May 1978 to design and construct a wood gasifier. The gasifier pipes the wood gas, tars, oils, and cresote into a boiler (previously using natural gas and oil fuel) and burns everything clean and completely. The wood chip gasifier is described. The gas produced typically has a Btu content of approximately 150 Btu/SDCF and is composed of N/sub 2/, CO, CO/sub 2/ and H/sub 2/. Many advantages are mentioned; including savings in energy costs, and meeting air pollution standards. (DP)
