Hydro project updates

While they keep their eye on future relicensing activities, developers of hydroelectric facilities are proceeding with finishing their backlog of projects. Following is an update on the Gem State project near Idaho Falls, Idaho; the Tupperware facility along the Blackstone River between Rhode Island and Massachusetts; the Byllesby project of North American Hydro; and the Mington Pumped Storage project in central Taiwan. In addition a proposal to prohibit hydroelectric development in the north west along streams where salmon, steelhead, or wild non-seagoing fish are present is reviewed. Developments in Ireland, Norway, and Denmark are discussed. Problems with the Rio Bravo plant in California are described.
