Frequency difference between elliptically polarized oppositely traveling waves in a ring laser in a magnetic field

The solar equations for single-mode lasing of elliptically polarized oppositely traveling waves in a gas ring laser in a weak longitudinal nagnetic field are obtained. Using these equations an expression is derived for the frequency difference between the oppositely traveling waves in the important practical case when their polarizations differ slightly from one another and are close to linear. The equation is analyzed for the case of a single-isotope and two-isotope composition of the lasing gas.
