Regulation and bilateral monopoly: Long-term contracting in natural gas

Book ·
OSTI ID:5996281
In the US, natural gas is sold by producers to pipelines under long-term contracts. Many of these contracts are no longer viable in today's market. The authors develop a simple model of contracting between a single buyer and seller, with and without uncertainty or regulation. They address the implications of introducing contract diversity into the model for the impact of regulation, and discuss empirical application of the model.
