The gas seller's companion: A practical guide to gas contracts
This book is a clear and concise primer on natural gas contracting for both sellers and buyers. It provides the beginner with a comprehensive overview of the basics of creating an enforceable contract that accurately reflects the deal struck. Although this book is primarily intended for the neophyte, is may also be useful to the more experienced practitioner as a basic checklist. The book's eleven chapters begin with an overview of the history of the natural gas industry and the nature of gas markets. This is followed by a chapter that covers the Uniform Commercial Code, contract law traps, settlement agreements, and dealing with lawyers. The book then turns to a discussion that progresses in describing the players in the gas business, the types of gas contracts, the elements of a gas contract, the fundamentals of making a good deal, turning that deal into a contract, and contract enforcement. A separate chapter is devoted to short-term contracts. A glossary of natural gas terms is provided.
