Book ·
OSTI ID:5365683
The authors have covered both the advantages and disadvantages for users of dealing in the spot markets, and offer explicit guidelines for avoiding common pitfalls, about the current regulatory environment in relation to both pricing supply and transportation. Sample contracts illustrate the conditions which are more commonly stated in gas purchase contracts, as well as typical terms found in agency agreements for transportation. Factors which must be considered in long term contracting, including cogeneration, supply interruptions, renegotiations, obligations to purchase, and deliverability problems are fully examined. The activities of independent marketers who facilitate the transactions between buyers and sellers without specific ties to a production or pipeline source are discussed. Case studies illustrate actual savings achieved by companies who have successfully utilized direct purchase to meet their natural gas needs. Special features include an in-depth assessment of both the current and future gas market and pricing trend projections, as well as directories of natural gas producers, pipeline distributors, marketing firms, and regulatory agencies.
