Improved regenertors for smaller gas turbines in the 3000 to 5000 hp output category are discussed. The US Navy is funding three competetive industry studies for recuperated high-efficiency gas turbines in the 15,000 to 25,000 hp range. Methods for uprating regenerators for 1200/sup 0/F and 90% heat transfer effectiveness are discussed.
