Uprate Centaur to 5000 hp+ with 30% thermal efficiency

During the first quarter of 1985, Solar Turbines Inc. expects to start prototype tests of their uprated 5000 to 6000-hp Centaur Type H machine, with program plans calling for the engine to go into production later that year. First shipments of production models are expected before the end of 1985. The Type H is also seen as the vehicle to improve Solar's position in the hotly-contested 5000-hp-class cogeneration market.
