Uprate Centaur to 5000 hp + with 30% thermal efficiency

During the first quarter of 1985, prototype tests of an uprated 5000 to 6000 hp Centaur Type H gas turbine will be started. The schedule calls for the machine to go into production later in the year. The Centaur Type H turbine is expected to have 5400 hp ISO continuous output with 30% simple cycle thermal efficiency when the initial production engines are introduced. The design, operation, and performance of the Type H engine are discussed.
