Marketed US natural gas consumption in 1982 totaled 18.5 trillion CF (wet basis), down considerably from the 1981 level of 20.2 TCF, according to the latest information from the US Department of Energy. Domestic consumption on a dry basis was 17.8 TCF. Prices continued to climb in 1982, with average wellhead prices reaching $2.41/1000 CF, up from $1.98 in 1981. The national average price to consumers for residential heating was $5.50/1000 CF.
