lambda. -hyperon and K/sup 0/-meson production in Cp and CC interactions at momentum 4. 2 GeV/c per nucleon

We have investigated ..lambda..-hyperon and K/sup 0//sub S/ -meson production in Cp, CC and multinucleon interactions. The average multiplicities and also the inclusive cross sections of ..lambda.. and K/sup 0//sub S/ production in the types of interactions studied have been determined. A larger charged particle multiplicity is observed on the average in CC interactions with ..lambda..- and K/sup 0//sub S/ -particle production as compared with all inelastic CC interactions: /sup LambdatsK//sup 0//sub CC/roughly-equal1.3/sup i/n/sub CC/. Such an effect is not observed for multi-nucleon CC interactions. The distributions of ..lambda.. and K/sup 0//sub S/ particles in p/sub lab/, y/sub lab/, cos theta(/sub N/N, and p/sub perpendicular/ are presented.
