Production of K/sup 0/ mesons and. lambda. and Lambda-bar hyperons in. pi. /sup -/p interactions at 40 GeV/c

We report results obtained in a study of the production of K/sup 0/ mesons and ..lambda.. and Lambda-bar hyperons in ..pi../sup -/p interactions at 40 GeV/c. We obtain the inclusive cross sections and average multiplicities of K/sup 0//sub S/, ..lambda.., and Lambda-bar particles and also the single-particle distributions of these particles in the kinematic variables x, y*, and p/sup 2//sub perpendicular/. We discuss the energy dependences of certain distributions of K/sup 0//sub S/, ..lambda.., and Lambda-bar particles from ..pi../sup -/p interactions in the momentum range from 5 to 360 GeV/c.
