Possibility of using semicoke made from Kansk-Achinsk brown coals in ferrous metallurgy

The possibility of replacing coke with a semicoke made from Kansk-Achinsk brown coals in sinter production and direct iron-ore reduction processes has been investigated. Either complete or partial replacement of coke by one of these semicokes for sinter production has led to a much lower yield and specific production rates. This fault is attributed to the fineness and high reactivity of brown-coal semicoke. However, the semicoke proved to be a very promising material for the direct reduction of iron ores. 1 figure, 1 table.
