This paper presents laboratory results on the agglomeration of phosphorite fines and the properties of the resulting agglomerate on partial or complete replacement of metallurgical coke by semicoke from fast pyrolysis of Kansk-Achinsk coal. The physicochemical characteristics of the fuels used in the experiments are presented. The brown-coal semicoke differs considerably from coke fines in properties; the semicoke has higher reactivity than the fines, and it burns in air at 500 K. For comparison, the ignition temperature of coke fines is 1200 K. The chemical composition (mass %) of an agglomerated sample of Dzhanatas phosphorite is presented. It was found that fine-grained semicoke from high-speed pyrolysis of Kansk Achinsk coal can be used as a fuel in the agglomeration of phosphorite fines. IR spectroscopy shows that the optimum content of KAU semicoke is 12% as regards the strength characteristics.
