A solar heated olympic size pool with an expected payback within 3-4 yrs was constructed in Miami, Florida. The 12,375 ft/sup 2/ pool is heated by 216 collectors mounted at a 35 degree angle. Two 25 hp pumps passed transfer fluid through the collectors at a rate of about 6 gal/min/collector. The system, which is expected to save $20,000/yr in fuel, is usable for swimming year round.
