A residential pool installation in Illinois is enclosed in a dome structure and heated by 6 flat plate collectors. The 16 by 28 ft pool utilizes copper collectors coated with black chrome on nickel coating which are glazed with tempered water white crystal glass. The solar energy system supplies 75-85% of the annual heating load and saves an estimated $584/yr for a 12-yr payback period. Auxiliary heat is supplied by a hydroheat wood stove.
