Three pools in California totalling 19,300 ft/sup 2/ are heated with a 414 collector system incorporating single glazed copper collectors piped in parallel. The collectors are mounted on top of a spectator pavillion. For three months of the year, solar energy supplies 100% of the heating requirements and 30% the remaining 9 months for a total annual solar contribution of 40%. The pools have floating surface covers and 2 backup heat exchangers. The expected fuel savings are about $25,000/yr.
