Solar simplicity - the swimming pool

The design and installation of solar energy swimming pool heating systems are reviewed. Because low temperatures are required for swimming pool heating, collectors may be lightweight, uninsulated, low cost, and unglazed and may be mounted on a roof, a rack, or a ground embankment. Solar heated swimming pools usually require only collectors, control units, and piping, as the pool itself acts as storage and the circulating pump is usually adequate for the solar energy system. Plastic piping is suitable for solar swimming pool heating applications. The design and installation of the system is usually relatively simple.
