Violation of flavor universality from superstring quark-singlet production

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)

We investigate the signatures of leptoquarks or diquarks in the rank-5 E/sub 6/ superstring model. Leptoquark decays are characterized by e,..mu..-universality violation (h-italic-tilde..-->..eunot =h-italic-tilde..--> mu..u) and diquark decays by quark-flavor nonconservation (e.g., h-italic-tilde..-->..u-bars-bar,u-barb-bar). If one of the scalar superpartners h-italic-tilde is lighter than the top quark, then the top quark may decay dominantly by two-body modes (e.g., t..-->..l/sup +/h-tilde or t..-->..d-barh-italic-tilde-bar), invalidating the usual signatures. Two-body gluino decays (g-italic-tilde..-->..h-italic-tilde/sub 1/h-bar/sub 1/) may swamp its conventional signatures.
