Signal for superstring quark singlet production: Violation of flavor universality

The authors investigate the signatures of leptoquarks or diquarks of the rank 5 E/sub 6/ superstring model produced in e/sup +/e/sup -/, pp-bar, ep and pp machines. Leptoquark decays are characterized by lack of e, ..mu.. universality (h/sup --/ ..-->.. eu not equal to h/sup --/ ..-->.. ..mu mu..) and diquark decays by quark flavor non-conservation (e.g., h/sup --/ ..-->.. ..mu..-bars-bar, ..mu..-barb-bar). If the top quark is heavier than one of the scalar superpartners h/sup --/, then it may decay dominantly by two body modes (e.g., t ..-->.. iota/sup +/h/sup --/ or t ..-->.. d-bar h/sup ---/), invalidating the usual signatures. Two body gluino decays (g/sup --/ ..-->.. h/sup --//sub 1/ h-bar/sub 1/) may swamp its conventional signatures.
