Measuring fast-neutron flux by radioactivation of sulfur

The method describes procedures for determining neutron flux density by the activation reaction /sup 32/S(n,p)/sup 32/P. The reaction is useful for measuring neutrons with energies above 2 MeV and for irradiation times up to about 40 days. With suitable techniques, fission-neutron flux densities above 10/sup 2/ cm/sup -2/s/sup -1/ can be measured. The method includes a discussion of apparatus, materials, calibration, procedure, calculations, report, precision, and accuracy. (JMT)
