Survey: 20% of users switching from gas to coal, oil, waste

A survey of 650 natural gas users found that high prices and supply uncertainties are causing 20% to switch to oil, wastes, and coal as alternative fuels. Users also reported a drop in electricity use from 55.6 to 36% of total energy. Spokesmen for manufacturers and a university explain the rationale for their fuel-switching plans. (DCK)
