The high-intensity transmission characteristics of CH/sub 3/CHF/sub 2/ and CHFCHF were investigated in the intensity range of 5 x 10/sup 6/ to 5 x 10/sup 8/ W/cm/sup 2/ for various lines of the CO/sub 2/ lasing branches. For similar gas pressures, the ratio of small to large intensity absorption coefficients is relatively constant at various CO/sub 2/ lasing lines. The ratio of approx.6 measured for CH/sub 3/CHF/sub 2/ at 10.6 ..mu..m renders this molecule a good candidate for CO/sub 2/ amplifier gain isolation.
