Computation of the required coal charge comminution size

If the coal charge is mixed efficiently, the degree of comminution may be decreased. The higher the caking capacity of the charges, the coarser the comminution level may be. The degree of comminution also depends on the ratio of bulk density and the apparent density of the coal charge particles; the higher the bulk density and the lower the charge content of mineral impurities (the lower the apparent density), the lower the crushing level may be. Coking at high rates requires fine comminution of the charges. An increase in the width of the ovens permits coking of charges with a lower crushing level. 13 references, 2 tables.
