National pollutant discharge elimination system (NPDES). a revision of the existing regulations

A revision of the existing regulations governing the National Pollutant Discharge Elemination System (NPDES) program is proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The proposal is made to clarify and improve existing program regulations and procedures in light of past experience; fill in significant gaps in coverage under the existing regulations, particularly in response to court decisions and the emerging emphasis on the control of toxic and hazardous pollutants; and make the regulatory changes which are necessary under the 1977 amendments to the Clean Water Act. Comments must be received by the EPA on or before 10/20/78. Two meetings will be held to discuss and receive comments on the proposed regulations. The meetings are open to the public and are scheduled for 9/19/78 in Washington, D.C., and 9/21/78 in San Francisco, Calif.
