A British paper maker has commissioned a combined heat and power (CHP) plant to be based on an aero-derivative gas turbine with a fired heat recovery boiler. The installation is expected to cut fuel costs and increase overall energy efficiency. The plant is expected to achieve fuel savings worth pounds450,000/year for the company. The main elements of the plant are: a Centrax CX 350-KB5 aero-derivative gas turbine, a Deltak heat recovery boiler, a fast acting fault current limiter, and a 100 kW motor driven screw compressor to increase the incoming gas supply pressure needed to fire the gas turbine. The operation of the plant is described.
