Structural feature at 50 GeV/c in the mass spectrum of the phi. pi. /sup -/ system in the reaction. pi. /sup -/+Cu. -->. mu. /sup +/+. mu. /sup -/+. pi. /sup -/+

The yield of phi mesons has been studied as a function of the effective mass of the ..mu../sup +/..mu../sup -/..pi../sup -/ system in the reaction ..pi../sup -/+Cu ..-->.. ..mu../sup +/+..mu../sup -/+..pi../sup -/+ . . . at 50 GeV/c. The results indicate a structural feature in the phi..pi../sup -/ system with a mass approx. =1.4 GeV and a width < or approx. =100 MeV.
