Programming VLSI concurrent array processors

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5083617

Guidelines for algorithmic notations for VLSI arrays are problem orientation, executability, and semantic simplicity. In addition, an adequate notation must provide abstractions commensurate to the characteristics of VLSI media. Two programming notations meeting these requirements are briefly introduced and illustrated by examples. One is based on applicative state transition systems, and the other is based on the notion of computational wavefront. Both schemes employ a data-flow principle to facilitate the description of parallel data movements and executions in VLSI array processors. 15 references.
