Journal Article · · Energy Detente; (USA)

While experts among many disciplines still struggle with the results and implications of the March 24, 1989, oil spill in Alaska, there are long-range effects of the disaster that may permanently change the way the US public deals with energy. The oil spill has forced an accelerated self-examination of US energy point-of-view. In this issue some of the long-term psychological effects of the disaster are discussed. This issue also presents the following: (1) ED refining netback date series for the US Gulf and West Coasts, Rotterdam, and Singapore (Part I, June 9; and Part II, June 23, 1989); and (2) ED fuel price/tax series for countries of both the Western and Eastern Hemispheres, June 1989 edition. 4 figs., 10 tabs.
