Book ·
OSTI ID:5009680
The Federation of Rocky Mountain States, Inc. has been active on issues concerning energy developments in its area. The Federation was directed to identify areas on which the states agreed; the statements are presented. This document is composed of three parts. Part 1 contains three regional energy statements, the first of which was drafted by the Natural Resources Council Feb. 5, 1975. The second dated Feb. 11, 1975, is the consensus arrived at by the Federation governors' assistants after reviewing the council's statement. The third was issued Feb. 20, 1975, by the governors of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Arizona and Nevada, together with the governors of the Federation states: Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Part 2 is a tersely written summary of data currently in use by state, Federal and private business officials; it summarizes the information and attempts to define the region's energy sources, the development of which will significantly affect the states in the Rocky Mountain West. Part 3 includes a group of background documents describing issues related to energy development, namely; papers on economic effects, social problems, balancing resource development with environmental protection, responsibilities of the states, the Federal government and industry, legal questions and alternatives, and a review of Federal energy research and development policy.
