Three problems connected with counting radioactive sources are considered: distortion effects produced by dead times on the Poisson distribution, the possibility of experimentally studying the statistical properties of a series of pulses using a correlation method, and the importance of random coincidence pairs in the 4 pi BETA - gamma coincidence counting method.
